Tip of the Month:
Marketing Tips for Wedding Venues

This month's marketing tip is focused on wedding venues and accommodation establishments.  If you own or manage a wedding venue or accommodation establishment, we touch on some pointers that will help you with bettering your marketing strategy.

Photographs: A lot of wedding venues have a lot of images of previous weddings with close up of tables and decor elements. Some have the most pictuerisque images of couples posing at locations not even at their property.  Although these are all fine and form part of your marketing stategy, you need to re-think the images you display on your website.

Couples want to see the blank canvas.  They want to see the actual venue space.  What the roof is like, the walls, the floor, windows, doors, patio's, views from the venue and even the restrooms.  This is at the end what sells your wedding venue.

Showing previous clients' images is great and counts as a moodboard for future potential clients, however people want to envision their moodboard at your venue, so that can only be done with beautiful architectural imagery showcasing the empty spaces of your venue.  Yes, we know it might sound boring, but that's why you have a bit of everything on your website.

If you have accommodation at your property, showcase the different room options. Take styled images of the rooms to showcase how the acommodation look and what it has to offer.

Website:  This is just as important as everything else!  Clients will visit Wedding Directories like mooi Troues to source wedding vendors.  They browse through your listing on the wedding directory and then will either leave the directory's site to look at your website or social media.  Most of the time if there's a website available, readers will first visit the website before social media as the details of your venue is more summarized on the website.

If your website takes long to load, nor responsive, nor mobile friendly and not user friendly, then potential clients will leave and move on to the next best option venue.

Especially when it comes to online marketing. With online marketing things move fast! People want to know all the information instantly. Make sure your website is updated and working 100%. Don't loose potential clienst just because your website is not working.

Collaborate by welcoming styled shoots:  Styled shoots is a great way to build up a portfolio of great imagery with fresh ideas for couples wanting to get married at your venue. Most styled shoots take place during weekdays so won't cause too much interuption in your daily running of your business operations.  It's a creative way to showcase your venue.

Video footage:  Get a videographer in to film your wedding venue and acommodation facilities.  Do it as a quick 2 or 3 minute walk through highlight video.  This way potential clients can quickly see what your venue has to offer.

Respond to requests quickly:   We don't say you have to sit and check your computer screen, but try and check your mails at least every few hours.  So many couples advised us that some venues never even responded to their requests for pricing.  Answer your phones professionally. State the name of your venue, the name of the person answering the call etc.. Even so with e-mails.  Don't just use an autoresponder.  Get to your e-mails and don't ignore responses.  Try and answer it as your earliest convenience.
